After his dominance last year in the premier class of the national championship with two victories and eight podiums, Carmelo Morales will once again be fighting for the championship title with the Cardoso team. At 42 years of age, after a career full of national and international successes, the Catalan rider remains highly motivated and eager to continue to demonstrate his perseverance and talent.

Carmelo Morales (SBK): "We are starting the new season with the same enthusiasm as always. We are already with the first pre-season tests in Jerez and I was really looking forward to getting back together with the team, especially to be able to work with them again after this winter, I missed it. Now we have to be focused and give the maximum, as always, to be able to arrive at the first race in top form".

Young people hungry for victory

Cardoso Racing is making its debut this year in the 600 cubic centimetre categories. Borja Gómez and Filip Řeháček are the new additions to the team, and respectively will participate in the national championship of Supersport and Open 600.

The two young riders have shown a remarkable exponential growth since their beginnings, and will seek to translate their ambition and quality on track on behalf of Cardoso Racing. While Borja already knows what it is to compete and get on the podium with bikes of this cylinder category in this championship, the Czech rider comes to this new adventure from the Moto3 Junior World Championship.

Borja Gómez (Supersport): "I am very happy to be able to face the 2021 season with Cardoso Racing, I think it is one of the best teams in the paddock and they have a lot of experience. I am looking forward to continue working and progressing for the start of the season. Being my second season in the Supersport class and having a little more experience, our goals for this 2021 are to try to be as consistent as possible and fight for the championship. I want to thank José Luis Cardoso for trusting me and giving me this opportunity, Michelin, all my family and also the sponsors, because thanks to them I can be here".

Filip Řeháček (Open 600): "I am very happy to join Cardoso Racing this season. It's a new opportunity for me after racing two years in the Moto3 Junior World Championship, and I feel very comfortable with this new bike. Above all, this year I want to gain experience with these bigger bikes and learn a lot on every ride. I hope to get good results, I feel very comfortable with the team from the first day and I hope we continue in this line all season. I want to thank José Luis Cardoso and the whole team for this opportunity they have given me, I also want to thank my sponsors, my family and my friends, without them none of this would be possible".

The team's announcement coincides with three days of testing at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto circuit as part of the preparations for this season.

The 2021 ESBK season will consist of seven races and will start on the weekend of April 10-11 at Jerez. After this event, the championship will visit Navarra (twice), Aragón, Cataluña and Valencia, and will come to an end again in Jerez on October 31st.

José Luis Cardoso (Team Manager): "We face this new season with great enthusiasm and desire. We have one more year with the support of Yamaha and Michelin, a support that makes the team increase its potential and its chances to fight for the titles, which is our goal. Carmelo repeats season with us after a very positive 2020 in which we were on the verge of winning the championship, and we arrive with much more desire and experience. On the other hand, Borja Gómez joins the team, a very talented rider, who last year proved to be at a great level, and we believe we can bring a lot to him. The other new addition is Filip Řeháček, a rider we are very happy with, who comes from the Moto3 category and has to adapt to the new category and learn. Despite the difficult situation of the pandemic we are very excited, we believe we have a very strong team and that we will be very competitive in all categories".
