ESBK starts for Cardoso Racing at Jerez

The Spanish Superbike Championship starts this weekend at the home circuit for the Andalusian team, which this year will compete in the ESBK, Supersport and Open600 categories.

The 2021 season starts for Cardoso Racing this weekend. The Jerez - Ángel Nieto circuit hosts the first round of the ESBK, the Spanish Superbike Championship, a competition in which the team led by José Luis Cardoso will participate with the support of Yamaha and Michelin, with Carmelo Morales in the premier class, with Borja Gómez in Supersport and Filip Řeháček in Open600.

As for the Superbike category, Carmelo Morales will not be able to ride due to a suspension imposed on him at the end of last season, so he will be back on the bike at the next round in Navarra.

As for the Supersport and Open600 riders, Gómez and Řeháček, debut in this round with Cardoso Racing. Both are two young riders, with grit and desire to do well, and already left good feelings in the preseason tests.

Borja Gómez #3: "I feel very good, both with the bike and the team. After having completed the preseason tests and the first free practice sessions at this circuit we can say that the feeling is good and that we are improving day by day. This weekend the races are finally here, I'm looking forward to starting this championship with Cardoso Racing and to show my talent".

Filip Řeháček #12: "I'm very happy to be in this first race with Cardoso Racing. So far everything is going well, both with the team and the bike. During the preseason we tested at this circuit and we have good information. I think we are ready and that this weekend and the season will be focused on gaining experience, as this year I am competing in a new category for me. Even so, I think we will be able to fight with the riders at the front.

José Luis Cardoso (Team Manager): "We arrive at the first round of the ESBK at the Jerez circuit, an unbeatable place to start, it's our home circuit. We are very excited about the project we are starting this year in the Supersport and Open600 categories with Borja Gómez and Filip Řeháček, two riders with whom we have serious objectives to succeed in the championship. The results of the pre-season tests were very good and the expectations have to be better, so we hope to continue to evolve continuously in order to achieve our goal, which is to be fighting to win the championships. The sad part of this round is the absence of Carmelo due to a suspension from last year. We hope that for the next round everything will be back to normal and that Carmelo will be back where he belongs: on a bike and fighting for the win.

The weekend of competition will be intense, with races on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday morning will be the qualifying session and, at 16:45 h. will be held the first Supersport race. The second race of this category will be on Sunday at 15:00, which can be followed live on the RFME Youtube channel.
